George Cummings Road Relay

The Bellahouston Harriers Men's A team managed to finish sixth at the George Cummings Road Relays on a rainy day in Houston. The race, hosted by Kilbarchan AAC, doubled as the Renfrewshire Road Relay Championships and the men's performance was enough to see them pick up a bronze medal.

The first relay of the autumn season, the Cummings is known for being a tough route with a fast start and finish but some testing hills in between. At just under 2.7 miles, the race serves as a benchmark ahead of the three cross country relays that span October.

The women's A team taking on the three laps consisted of Katherine Hylands, Rhona Martin, and Suzanne Boyle. Off a strong opening leg from Katherine, Rhona and Suzanne saw the race through to bring the team home in twelth position.

A strong men's A team got off to a flying start with Crispin Walsh narrowly missing out on a sub 14 clocking on the opening leg. Backed up by Stuart Miller and Darren McQuade, Robbie Ferguson anchored the team to sixth spot by running over thirty seconds quicker than last year.

The men's B team had Paul Clawson on the opening leg with Paul Houston and Kenny Taylor running similar times on legs two and three. Robert Carson was on last leg while John Softley ran in a composite team.

Continuing the pattern of the lead off runner posting the fastest leg for the team, Rebecca Simister ran well with Stella McCulloch and Gael McCallum backing up her performance to allow the team to finish eighteenth.
