SVHC International Cross Country Trial

Crispin Walsh has been picked to run for Scotland at the British and Irish Masters Cross Country International in November after securing automatic selection at the SVHC trial race. The International pits teams from Scotland against their counterparts in England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, and Wales on the same course at Tollcross Park.

Run in the same format as the International itself, runners are split into five year age bands with men aged 35-64 taking in four laps of the two kilometre loop with men aged 65+ and women aged 35+ covering three laps.

The race itself started at a frenetic pace early on before runners settled in. With no big gaps between runners, Crispin settled into a pack which was gradually whittled down as runners commenced the final lap. Knowing a top three finish in his age category would guarantee automatic selection and with a small gap ahead of the fourth V40 with a mile to go, Crispin maintained the gap and over the final few hundred yards edged into second V40 to make the cut.

Attention now turns to November where Crispin will wear his second Scotland vest and look to improve upon his 2014 performance where he finished 23rd in his age category.
