Training Weekend

It's that time of year again for our twice yearly training weekend in the beautiful Glenisla in Angus.

So popular was last years spring training weekend that we had another one in the Autumn. If you would like to go please send me your name asap as we already have quite a few names.

A brief resume follows of what is planned:

The journey from Glasgow to Glenisla takes about 2 hours 30 mins with a coffee stop at Baxters Auchterarder...

We arrive at Glenisla hotel which is the meeting point for all activities on Friday the 3rd of May at about 4.30pm, and after everyone has checked in to the various accomodations around the area we meet up for a 45 min run through the rolling Cateran Trail in the hills above Glenisla. Provision is made for all levels of fitness so all can enjoy.

After showering and change we meet at Hotel for dinner and some social fun (drink anyone?). We take over the restaurant area for both nights and the last couple of years have been able to organize a very reasonable fixed price 3 course menu.

On Saturday morning, we set out on another run before breakfast starting at 8am. We arrange a late breakfast at all accommodations so that we can run first. Later in the afternoon it's time for "The Burning Bush 1 mile Handicap Race" which heads down the village main street, followed by a jump in the river!... No kidding (ask Kristina).

This is always followed by the prize giving and snacks in the hotel lounge. Saturday night is the same as Friday dinner for all at the hotel with a late licence both nights... beware!

On Sunday morning we get up like a spring and meet at 8am, BEFORE breakfast for a run round the local mountain... great!

Around 12pm we depart Glenisla and stop for coffee at Baxters in Auchterarder on the drive home.

To give you a ballpark idea of costs; bed and breakfast about £25 to £35 per night depending where you stay, with dinner about £12 to £13 per night for 3 courses. This could vary but not much. Everybody just pays for their own drinks and we pool the dinner cost.

Remember this is very popular weekend as it is the May holiday so if you want in, move now and send me your name.

We will ask for a deposit of £30 from everyone who is going after we have all the names in. Find a list below of names so far and if you are missing let me know. Details of accomodation will follow later.

Please remember its for all club members new and experience, you will enjoy... promise!
